Yes, the desktop size settings work as follows: -- "Server"-- the remote desktop size is initially set with the -geometry argument to vncserver, and it can be changed on the server side using xrandr or a program that uses the X RANDR extension.
-- "Auto"-- maintain the remote desktop size such that it can always be displayed in the local window without using scrollbars. For instance, if the remote desktop starts at 1100x900 but the local display is only 1200x800, then the remote desktop will be resized to 1100 by 700-something pixels upon connecting. An automatic remote desktop resize is triggered upon first connecting to the server and also every time the local window changes size or shape as a result of user interaction. The viewer should be smart enough to handle conflicts between multiple viewers attempting to resize the server's desktop simultaneously. -- "WxH (Manual)"-- Resize the remote desktop once upon connecting and, after that, only when explicitly requested by the user. If the actual behavior of the viewer and server match the description above, then no worries, but if the behavior differs from the description, then that is a bug.
