+1 to release RC3a for 1.1.
In the building the source from an empty maven repo, I once hit the issue
reported in [1].
Overrall, the binary dirstro is good. I can run most of the samples
successfully. I ran into an issue with the ant script for demos\xml-bigbank.

The LICENSE/NOTICE files seems to be good too.
I don't think [1] & [2] are blocking issues. We could work them around and
fix them in future releases.

A new release candidate (RC3a) has been created addressing the issues as
discussed in the previous thread. I'm starting this IPMC VOTE thread in
parallel with the project vote thread as the material content of the

eyeballs on it.
