<snip> Adam, I think Dive Into Python is quite good, but as a second book or a first book for someone with a bit more experience of other languages than it seems like you might have. The first think I read was <http://www.ibiblio.org/obp/thinkCSpy/> which is aimed at high school students. It might move a bit slowly for some tastes, but it sounds like DIP is moving a bit too fast.
