Vim is a general purpose programmer's editor with python support, rather than a python-specific editor. Vim has incredibly powerful at editing text, but the learning curve is steep. Personally, I think it's great, though :-) But really, if you ask ten programmers what the best editor is, you'll probably get twelve answers.
