Murail, Check out Udacity.com and the CS101 course. Great video lectures reinforced by "homework" and problems (with answers) that you can do yourself. Also has a very good forum and active user base to ask questions.
It is a good starting point for a beginner and teaches the basics behind how to build a simple web crawler using Python.
