If the Tribune Co. and Randy Michaels' Local TV LLC have stations in
the same market, it's no surprise that the stations are entering into
local marketing agreements, considering that Michaels is Sam Zell's
second-in-command at the Trib. And if the stations both have a news
department, well, cuts are going to happen--in St. Louis, the
combining of the Trib's CW affil KPLR and Local's Fox affil KTVI
(acquired from Fox along with other stations in markets where Fox
wasn't owning two stations), veteran KPLR anchorman Rick Edlund (58)
and veteran KPLR weather reporter Keryn Shipman (45 and not a hot
babe) joined unspecified other employees on the street:

Earlier this week in Denver, Zell and Michaels combined Tribune CW
affil KWGN and Local Fox affil KDVR and sent a bunch of employees
packing, including a KWGN anchor with over 33 years experience at the
station (back when KWGN was the Trib's only other TV station besides
WGN in Chicago and WPIX in NY). Ouch.
