---8 p.m.
TELE-GEBRA
"Queer Eye" - the homosexuals = "REAL SIMPLE. REAL LIFE." (TLC)

"Lost" + "Pirates of the Caribbean" = "CRUSOE" (NBC). C'mon, you
remember the assassination attempts, cannibals, and marauding pirates in
the book, right?

10 p.m.
The original "CRASH" (Starz!) was about more than racism. It was about
interconnectivity, butterfly and effects. And, it was also originally
supposed to be a television series, not an Academy Award winning movie.
The project has gone through several revisions since then, with network
deals, casts, and lawsuits clouding the landscape. At one point, it was
hoped that the entire original cast would sign on to the series, though
Loretta Divine, Ryan Phillipe, Matt Dillon and even Sandra Bullock
seemed more likely as regulars than Don Cheadle, Terrence Howard, or
Thandie Newton. But oh well. The movie had a ton of chefs, the series
has an equally sprawling grocery list of writers, producers and
executive producers. While I'd love it if Paul Haggis was scripting the
show, the writer's room includes people from "The Sopranos," "Deadwood,"
"The Wire," and "The Shield." We may not know what all the connections
are between the new cast members Dennis Hopper or D.B. Sweeney, but it's
about the quilt, not the stitching.

Stacy Keach plays a warden again, and Charlotte Ross costars as the
upset wife in "RING OF DEATH" (Spike), the usual messy mix of undercover
cops, fight clubs, and steel prison cell matches that you expect from
the straight to DVD fare that premieres on this channel.
