In one of life's little twists of fate, I once interviewed to work for
Bob Hope, but I turned down the job after learning it was conditional
on Hope still being alive. In my defense, the man was 94-years-old at
the time, and I was looking for a job with more stability. Between the
day I turned down the job and the day he died (six years later), I
worked on apx. 40 different TV shows, and held three other jobs. I
don't really regret not taking the job, but considering my reasoning,
the unstable direction my life actually took is somewhat amusing.

I mention this because my job was supposed to be helping to sort
through the vast collection of Bob Hope memorabilia to determine what
would be kept to go to the planned Bob Hope museum, what would be
donated to places like the Smithsonian, and what would be auctioned
off. A chunk of the items were auctioned off, and they fetched a hefty
sum.
