I agree with those who say it was not pre-recorded; but pre-recording is the obvious solution to this problem. On the one hand, you don't want to contribute to the notion that disabled people have to be hidden away in a closet, and there is something nice about ABC putting DC out there. OTOH, he is not really able to do the job anymore, and the effect of him being there at best is to evoke pity and sympathy in viewers. Why not pre-record a 5 minute segment with Clark and show it at 11:40 or something? Let somebody interview him, let him give out new year's wishes. and then let Seacrest take it to the midnight countdown?
