Its victory was by a thin margin, but when given the choice British
viewers preferred an ITV documentary on the women's prison "Holloway"
last night over Gil Grissom's farewell to "CSI Original" or the home-
grown soapy "Mistresses"--with viewers obviously hoping for some hot
girl-on-girl like the defunct drama "Bad Girls," the first part of the
three-part series edged "Mistresses" on BBC1 and "CSI" on Channel 5,
which were in a virtual tie for second:

C5 obviously didn't care too much that they were in second, since to
them a second-place tie is the same as a first-place win--something to
be cherished at British TV's doormat.
