So Kim's family is in Dallas and Bob wants them out of Texas fast...and he tells them to drive WEST? Drive north and you're in Oklahoma in a bit over an hour. Drive east and you're in Louisiana in three. Drive south and you can be in, well, the Gulf of Mexico in about five. But drive west and you'll still be in Texas 12 hours later with El Paso coming up in the distance. And the whole scene just outside "downtown Dallas" got so much wrong that I can't begin to list it. Memo to TV writers: 1) Texas is big, really big. You might think it's a long way to the corner store but that's peanuts compared to Texas. 2) Maps of Texas are available from AAA, some Exxon stations, and on the Google. Please look at one for a moment when writing about the Lone Star State. 3) Dallas does not have mountains, palm trees, or scenic overlook highways. Dallas was built in a river bottom at the edge of the Great Trinity Forest. Someday our levees, built on sand, will fail and the economic loss will make New Orleans looks like a rounding error. I know you have to film in southern California but could you at least edit out the palm trees? -- Ed Dravecky III http://www.fencon.org/ --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ TV or Not TV ....
