They're thinking of making a Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie. *But Wesley, wasn't Buffy the Vampire Slayer originally a movie before becoming a (much better) TV series?*
Yes it was, but the franchise is still too popular to not milk this particular cow of all of the cash it has. *But it will be a movie based on the TV series, right?* Not likely, according to the Hollywood Reporter (from which I am plagiarizing this entire email). The only connection to the series would be the trademarked title and hopefully the lead character. There won't likely be a Willow or a Xander or an Agent Seel... I mean Angel. It would maybe be a relaunch for a whole new franchise for a whole new audience. *But Joss Whedon will be involved, right?* Probably not. We aren't ruling him out though. He might have some interesting ideas. *Who have you reached out to?* A couple writers, including one from the Hollywood Reporter for a Memorial Day weekend article. From there maybe we can get a studio like Fox on board.
