To clarify (because that NY Post article was only about two steps
above useless): The first round does not have to be attempted in full.
At any point, the contestant can walk away with half of the money
they've correctly answered. The first round questions will vary from
$100, $500; $1,000; $2,000; $3,000; $5,000; $7,000; $10,000; $15,000;
and $25,000, and the difficulty of the questions are no longer linked
to the value. A $25,000 question can be the easiest of the set.

There is the usual gnashing of teeth in the game show boards, focusing
on the fact that this first round seems to be as similar to classic
Millionaire as Joker's Wild with Pat Finn did with the Jack Berry
version. I tend to fall into that camp, but I would also add that I
don't watch the show (it's on the TiVo, but simply doesn't make the
cut of time).

But that brings up a more interesting thing: the fact that Jeopardy
has been around since 1964, and with the exception of odd one-offs
(e.g., Super Jeopardy), the game has not changed at all in the 37
years the game has aired. That's dedication to a format.
