If you go the Apple website, you are greeted with images of a few clocks and the notice to check back later (the clocks show the times in various timezones to indicate when, relative to your global position, i.e. 7am PST or 9pm KZT). The message states:
"Tomorrow is just another day. That you'll never forget. Check back tomorrow for an exciting announcement from iTunes." Any guesses what they've got cooking? My sincere hope is they will make the iTunes Store global, meaning folks in the US would be able to buy UK store media and vice-versa. My glib guess is they will offer an apology for wasting everyone's time with Ping. In more personal Apple related news, I was having keyboard and trackpad issues on my four-year-old Macbook and went to my local Apple store (OK, an authorized Apple retail outlet whose decor roughly approximates that of an Apple store, though on a much smaller scale) and purchased an external keyboard. And while I am delighted to finally own a keyboard with Cyrillic characters, it turns out the keyboard wasn't the issue. It is the battery, and the problem is common enough that it pops up on many troubleshooting sites. Apparently Apple batteries sometimes develop a bulge (don't we all?) and press against the trackpad and cause havoc with the keyboard, too. Batteries are more expensive than keyboards (and not in stock for older models), so I am sans-battery for the time being. I just thought I'd mention it in case anyone else experiences similar issues (or in case those on this list connected to Apple want to hook a brother up with a battery). -- Kevin M.
