When Trebek started doing Jeopardy!, there wasn't immediate universal acceptance. I can't find the quote online, but I remember seeing Bob Costas quoted as saying something like "Anyone who prefers Alex Trebek to Art Fleming probably prefers watching baseball at the Metrodome to Fenway Park."
