I have always thought Crystal, other than his first two gigs, has been highly overrated as a host. Tonight he gave us exactly what we should have been expecting, so I don't think there is any point in criticizing him - though I think some people may be wondering why they didn't just ask Chris Rock to host the show, as he was the funniest guy on the stage. I made the mistake of watching the show along with Tim Goodman and his HR liveblog. How old is that guy - 25? He and most all the commenters seemed to have the attention span of a 3rd grader, and the maturity and sense of history of a college sophomore. He spent most of the first half bitching that all the time they were spending on the "awards we don't care about" would make them rush through and interrupt the speeches of the awards we "do care about". As far as I could tell, he was silent when the "major" awards were not interrupted or rushed at all. I went 20/24 and won my pool, so I left happy. Favorite moments were Rock, the Guest-players, the guys who said "lets get out of here" and Streep's "F-You" to the groaners (I was one of those, even though I thought she deserved it, I had Davis in my pool). Most puzzling moment was Mrs. Brad Pitt. When they were showing her in the audience I was thinking how great she looked - but when she went up on stage I thought she looked odd, and way too skinny. And then we could not figure out what she was doing with her leggy stance - was that a joke of some kind, or some super model attitude? -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
