At 91, widely considered the dean of motor sports journalism, and part
of broadcast teams covering just about every type of automotive
racing.

It is shameful for me to admit that the first time I recognized him
was in the movie Stroker Ace. In the last three or four years that
I've followed Formula 1, I've longed to hear that knowledgable voice,
in a business that seems to have fewer and fewer of them.

If nothing else, the link has video from the introduction of the 1969
National 500 (now known as the Bank Of America 500) when it was aired
on a three-week tape delay on ABC's Wild World Of Sports with Jim
McKay and Economacki.

As a total sidebar: go check out the Wikipedia page for the race and
check out the various commentator pairings. What I wouldn't give to
have some of them now.

If you'll excuse me now: I have to tell the damn kids to get off the lawn.
