Hulu is making money. Quite a bit of money. I think that's the problem ABC & Fox are having with it.
That said, as a Hulu+ subscriber, what I'm watching more on Hulu are the non-US shows: Misfits, Political Animals & Little Mosque on the Prairie, for example. They also seem to have made a deal with some Australian broadcasters so I started watching a couple of shows from there, shows I generally would have had to have gotten by questionable means. Other than that I use it for when my DVR messes up or to watch the end of shows clipped off because the damn broadcasters run their shows 30 seconds overtime (mostly half hour shows that end on the half hour). The big question to me, is do ABC, Fox, etc. make more money off of me watching TiVo'd shows or from Hulu? I would think Hulu since I have to watch the commercials there. <sarcasm>It seems to me that by doing things to mess up recordings like running overtime, they are forcing me to go to Hulu, so they must be making more money off of Hulu than Tivo'd shows; otherwise, why would they do something so foolish?</sarcasm> On Fri, Dec 21, 2012 at 11:15 AM, Kevin M. <[email protected]> wrote: > To be clear, some of the largest media corporations in the world cannot > figure out how to make a profit by releasing media on the internet. > > Kids, I don't think Hulu is the problem here. > > On Fri, Dec 21, 2012 at 9:28 AM, Joe Hass <[email protected]> wrote: >> >> The two voting owners (News Corp and Disney; Comcast can't vote) are split >> on how the take the company in the future: go subscription-only or continue >> to offer limited-free-with-ads >> >> >> http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887324731304578191590950630484.html >> >> -- >> TV or Not TV ....
