As a Llanviewer since 1988, perhaps I have more than a slight investment in its resurrection.
But with today's premiere (debut upload?) at 5am ET, perhaps it's not a good idea to have half of the opener set at a techno club. As one of the thirtysomething characters mentioned to her babysitter upon returning home: "That's more your scene than mine." While the folks in neighboring Pine Valley fast-forwarded five years for their reboot, the citizens of Llanview advanced more or less in real time. Of course, soap-real time means that 2012's high schoolers are now legally able to enter the aforementioned club. And while matriculating on LU's express track, the kids apparently discovered the S-bomb. The freedom of Hulu hasn't turned Agnes Nixon into David Mamet yet -- the kids just want their oxy -- but it's still a real, sudden jolt for long-timers.
