They are experimenting with $6.99 a month tier for streaming on 1 screen
at a time, and a $9.99 tier to stream on 3 screens at a time. Current
prices are $7.99 for 2 screens, and $11.99 for 4. The thinking appears to
be that most people would opt for the higher tier.

Even if they go with this, it may not apply to all customers (only new
ones?).

I guess this might usher in a new round of Netflix-bashing, but it seems
pretty reasonable to me. What makes these streaming services such a good
deal for me is that it allows me to share them with my grown children, who
then do not get cable in their apartments. We do occasionally run into
getting blocked when we are streaming at the same time, but that happens a
lot less than it used to. I would have paid $10/month to stream on three
screens when they made their last pricing change. Now, with Amazon and
Xfinity online, plus HBO and Showtime available online, I may not even need
the multiple simultaneous screens, and would certainly at least try out the
cheaper tier to see how it worked it if was available to me.

LAT reports their stock price, which has increased 400% this year, is
unchanged on the news.
