Last night's NCIS: LA. Mild spoiler: An RV explodes. Crudely edited inside
the sounds of the explosion is, clearly, the sound of machine gun fire.
Nobody was shooting anything... it was a bomb. This was sloppy FX work by
any standard. Ripped me out of the story completely. Having heard real
things explode in the past, I know that real explosion sounds are somewhat
lackluster compared to what is heard on TV and film, so I know the noise is
always going to be sweetened. But this wasn't sweetening; it was just badly
done sound.
