Lorre has slowplayed the reuniting of Shamy this season, and done a pretty good job of it, leading up to the episode you describe, which handles the entire thing very well.
On the flip side, it now can't figure out what to do with Howard, Bernadette (yes, we get it: he married his mom), and Raj. And by pushing further ahead with Shamy, it takes away from what I've always felt was the best pairing on that show: Sheldon and Penny. We're in the middle of Season 9, and as someone who's been a fan of this show from the beginning, I am kinda wondering how they're gonna get to the end of Season 10 (which already puts it three years past the traditional "Best Before" date on sitcoms.)
