DC sold at least $1.2 million of Killing Joke hardcovers last year (see here <http://www.comicbookresources.com/article/tilting-at-windmills-bookscan-2015-analysis>) -- their highest seller in bookstores -- so I don't think they're trying too hard to distance themselves from it even though they did allow an (arguable) retcon recently.
