It is shocking to discover that the amoral old white guys at FoxNews turned
out to be amoral old white guys. Simply shocking.

As much as I'd enjoy piling on FoxNews, this behavior is not limited to
them; it was pervasive in every production company I worked in my time in
Hollywood. Producers would hire women specifically to be able to have sex
with them. There were jobs that were traditionally assigned to a woman
(wardrobe, public relations, script supervisor) and if a woman held a
position outside the norm, she was spotlighted as a "female" director...
her gender was always placed before her job title.

Inevitably, there were two groups of women in every production office: The
women who played that bullsh*t game, and the women who worked doubly hard
to prove themselves regardless of their sex. Both groups resented the hell
out of each other, and the men were somewhere in the middle.

What makes FoxNews a unique case is it is atypical for the on-air talent to
be the victims and perpetrators of the sexual misconduct. And keep in mind
I was at CNBC at the tail end of Ailes' involvement there, as he was burned
by the NBC family when they pulled the plug on his America's Talking
network and replaced it with MSNBC. As the 21st century loomed, those in
the spotlight did all they could to avoid sexual harassment. It was the
backstage crew and production staff (the ones whose names are now
microscopic in the closing credits) who found themselves embroiled in the
sexual games. So for the O'Reillys and the Dooceys to be among the accused,
and for the accusers to be the female on-air talent... that's what is going
to make this story sizzle.
