I had a very brief encounter with Earle Hyman when I was about 10 years old. I
was taking acting classes in NY at the time, and my mother and I were headed
downtown on the M11 (9th Ave) bus, and Mr. Hyman sat down next to us. We
recognized him immediately from “Cosby”, but while I was content to let the man
be, my mother (she of no shame) struck up a conversation. We spent the 10 (or
so) minute ride downtown talking about the business (and The Cosby Show,
naturally) before we got off at 23rd St and he continued downtown. I remember
him being extremely gracious, given the intrusion. (That encounter also formed
my personal policy to let celebs be should I ever encounter one randomly on the
street.)
