I have never been on board with the rosey retrospective appreciation of the Brady Bunch; as Tom notes, the PF is no better (but not really any worse). I suppose TBB deserves some credit for normalizing blended families, which was still a stigma at the time.
I was a kid at the time, and an avid television watcher. I dont recall a single age peer who talked about either show at school (with no Rotten Tomatoes, schoolyard buzz was my main means of gauging pop culture relevance of television shows.
