Agreed. I smiled a lot, but didn't laugh once. 
(Though I did come close a few times, like when they explained what 
happened to Eldin.)

Same thing happened for me on the first episode of the Will & Grace reboot, 
which (like the Murphy Brown premiere) hammered Trump in a merciless (but 
obvious and unfunny) way.

Fortunately, the W&G reboot got much better, so I still have hope for 
Murphy.

Good move: hiring the guy playing Murphy's son Avery, who was very likable. 
Bad move: the IT guy who is a compendium of every cliche (racial and 
otherwise) imaginable.
