I found this relevant to the pilot of Murphy Brown also. It's about the difficulty of doing timely political humor in this environment. Writer Mark Harris says that it needs to come from a personal viewpoint like John Oliver, Seth Meyers, or Samantha Bee and not from a writers' room.
