As the far right is continually angered over the BBC, two prospective
channels that want to be like Fox News Channel with an emphasis on prime
time commentary are being floated to compete with BBC News and
now-Comcast-owned Sky News for what the Brits call "rolling news"
channels--GB News, supposedly funded by onetime U.S. cable giant John
Malone and with bosses who throw at the Beeb lines like "out of touch" and
"disgrace," has received a license from the UK government regulator Ofcom
(which cable and satellite channels have to get, unlike the unregulated
U.S.) but has not announced a launch date, while Rupert Murdoch is rumored
to have ex-Fox News and CBS News exec David Rhodes looking at the
possibility of a rival news channel:

Considering that Global's London news-talk radio station LBC (now heard
nationally by digital radio) has been able to get around Ofcom's
requirements of impartiality by having a balanced lineup of hosts, a more
opinionated rolling news channel could slip by the regulators. Also,
Brexit creator Nigel Farage is a free agent after leaving LBC after making
typical comments about immigrants, but would probably be welcome by these
potential channels.
