It's not uncommon for switches like this to happen around Labor Day
weekend/early September as that has traditionally been the 'beginning' of the
new daytime season.
Now, independent of the recent troubles, why it makes sense to switch from
Ellen to The People's Court is unclear.  Maybe it's cheaper for the station?

I don't think these decisions can be made at the last minute, can they? I would
think they would lock down the contracts back in April or May.And what does it
mean that "Judge Judy" is going away and "Judy Justice" is coming next
year? This is kind of curious. This would mean the local Sinclair station would
get "Ellen." Or maybe the show would go to a UHF channel.
