According to the Wiki, both Jost and Che were listed as head writers of the show from 2017 through the end of last season.

I found most of the show lame when not incoherent. Unlike Wicks I thought Kendrick Lamar was one of the few bright spots. I’m trying to remember a season when there was such a huge gap between the quality of the sketches and the quality of Weekend Update. I thought Colin Yost and Michael Che really sparkled. I’m not sure if Yost is still the head writer of the show in general, but for whatever reason the intelligence and craft he and Che bring to WU are nowhere to be seen throughout the rest of the show.
