In August of 1989, at my local state fair, Judy was opening for Paul Shaffer and The World’s Most Dangerous Band.
I was 15 at the time, but already 6 feet tall and around 270 pounds, so I’m guessing she did not think I was 15. But she pointed me out in the front row and said “get up here stud muffin.” She then proceeded to have me get on all fours and ride me around while singing a song about a love slave. After the show, the governor (Jim Thompson) sought me out and shook my hand and said I put on a good show. Many years later I would tell this tale to someone I was dating. As I went along, their eyes kept getting wider and wider, until they gasped something like. "NO... I WAS THERE... THAT WAS YOU?” I’ve gotten a lot of mileage out of the complete story of that event in my life at social gatherings. Even had the occasion to tell Emo Philips about it one time (before their separation) and he got a kick out of it too.
