Lorne Michaels has a two-part interview on the “Fly on the Wall” podcast with Dana Carvey and David Spade. Although the two 50-minute episodes could easily be trimmed to one 70-minute episode if they took out all the Lorne butt-kissing, it’s still worth listening to for Lorne’s perspective. He acknowledges Chevy Chase and Bill Murray fought right before Chevy, as host, had to give a monologue. Lorne puts blame for that at the feet of John Belushi. Everyone seems to go out of their way to avoid bashing Chevy, with Dana saying they want to get him on the podcast. Lorne repeats the anecdote about how when he wrote at “Laugh In” how writers were kept isolated and said he wanted to make sure that didn’t happen with “Saturday Night Live.” I think he also said that in his WTF podcast interview with Marc Maron. One interesting part came after the interview with Michaels ended. Carvey and Spade were speculating about who would replace Michaels. They mentioned Tina Fey. That sounds interesting.
