The meteorologist known for his detailed forecasts (which he almost always got right) started out at the age of 14 on a radio station in suburban Aurora and was one of WGN's national (in their cable superstation days) drawing cards over most of his 45 years with the station, next to the Cubs (and Harry Caray) and Bozo the Clown--at 71, he will retire from the Nexstar indie at the end of February:
