I can never tell my brother/housemate someone of significance has died; he'll either say "they had to at some point," or "when's the last time you heard of someone living to an unbelievable age?" His old high-school friend, who for years has served in our state legislature, might be the only one whose passing will severely affect him. B
Marti Lawrence, June 12th: Gene Shalit, the Today Show's wacky, mustached, pun loving movie reviewer, died Friday. He was 100. Shalit was a mainstay on the NBC morning show for 40 years until his retirement in November 2010.
