The only things I need to see on my equipment while watching TV, besides the TV picture, are the LCD readouts, which in every case are light sources. Virtually all my controlling is done by remote, so there's no need to see the devices themselves, only their readouts, and the need for that is pretty limited. If OTOH I'm up messing with them manually, I need the lights on regardless of color, because all those little used control labels on the devices are too tiny to read absent plenty of light and getting up close, often with a magnifying glass. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
