Hi Niraj:

Here is a answer to the question posted by you -

. Given the fact that the Linux kernel interface is open and source code is
available
under an OpenSource license, corporate expertise in Processor, Memory,
Communication, I/O profiling
for performance driven platforms can be easily incorporated..

. Linux supports the large number of processors and chipsets.
Both MMU-based and non-MMU based processors (mainstream, embedded) are
supported.
The kernel can be easily optimized for multiprocessor scenarios, compute
intensive tasks.

. Linux kernel has support for virtualization, clustering, NUMA, OpenMPI and
other high availability
technologies which are key building blocks of supercomputing.

. Linux support large number of filesystems and thus processing capabilities
are not
impaired by underlying data storage formats. From in-memory Filesystems to
high fidelity
filesystems like XFS and everything in between is supported.

. Linux makes for attractive an Operating Environment, over which a large
number of mature,
professional grade OpenSource infrastructure software, libraries and
development tools are available.
Applications fuel the adoption of the OS in compute intensive environments.

Please revert in case of any clarifications. Hope this helps.

thanks
Saifi.
