Hi:
For starter's you might want to do the following:
1. flush the firewall rules
/sbin/iptables -F
2. restart the xinetd
/etc/rc.d/init.d/xinetd restart
3. monitor the log in another terminal
tail -f /var/log/messages
Please post the excerpt of the log file.
