Hi Narender: Yes, there is a dialog box that pops up in Gnome (noticed this on FC5 and FC6). Should you use the 'neat' tool on Redhat/Fedora and try to assign the ip address same as another station on the LAN, you would see that as you try to activate the interface, an error will be displayed.
