Hi Aravindhan: A 'developer' may want to claim to be 'task trained' on a product say NetApp Filer (NAS) or FC-AL supporting switch. If that is the case, then certification helps ! 'The suitability of certification' depends on the product focus that you have. As an example, suppose you know "how to implement" 'replication' across volumes, then your skill set is implementation knowledge. But you may still not know how the script is written or the volumes are named in the case of Veritas vis-a-vis Sun. Here is a simple litmus test: . if you will get a higher offer or raise because of certification then do it else don't Just remember, the test of your skill (like friendship) is in adverse times (ie. when something does not work) ! Feel free to share your thoughts. thanks Saifi.
