By normal use do you mean plain home use like email, word-processing etc? Then I would recommend PC-BSD. It is terrific. It is not a linux distro, I do admit that, but it is based on Free-BSD. I haven't had a single hardware compatibility issue. Installation is done by downloading a .pbi package from www.pbidir.com . No dependency problems and so on and you need to keep clicking "Next" (windows style). Do give it a shot. It seems to fit your demands. Regards, Shriphani Palakodety.
