Hi Vikram: One scanner that is very popular with printers and DTP folks is HP ScanJet 2400. Avoid this ! Please see http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?lc=en&cc=us&product=297430 What i found impressive about its spec is that it supports 1200 x 1200 DPI resolution. Thats quite good for graphics. Recently visited CTC/Sec'bad and it is sold at 3,050 +/- 75 plus 4% VAT if you insist on receipt ! This device is well supported on MacOS 9/X and WinXP. This device does not seem to be supported through SANE project as the Genesys backend support for GL646USB is lacking. Some of the printer models you may want to look at are: HP ScanJet 3400c HP ScanJet 3530c HP ScanJet 3570c HP ScanJet 4300c HP ScanJet 5370c HP ScanJet 6100c HP ScanJet 6300c These are all "non-Genesis chipset" devices and should work. thanks Saifi.
