I recently upgraded my ubuntu to 64 bit gutsy gibbon. It is a wonderful distro especially for linux novices like me. But 64 bit edition particularly seems to have some problems.
Firefox crashes consistently when gmail ajax page gets loaded. Later I found most of javascript related pages cause firefox to crash. [Google reader works okay though. I guess javascript is not completely broken. This may indicate compatibility issues.] I am not sure if this is javascript only issue. Alternative browsers work okay for these pages. I tried with Konquerer which works fine with gmail. But I see some crashes there too. I tried ubuntu forums, and other online resources. I don't get any solution to this so far. Any help is greatly appreciated. If you can't get me any solution with this little information, please let me know how to get to the root of the problem (any log file out there mentioning which causes the issue?), so that I could get you more info or if possible I could solve it myself. Till then I had to boot to windows 32bit, probably under utilizing my 64bit machine. By the way Open source roundup 2007 was fantastic yesterday. A saturday evening well spent. Thank you, ragu
