Hi Nikhil: 'yum' is a software package manager for RPM-based systems like Fedora, OpenSuSe, Mandriva Debian distribution installation files have .deb extension and multiple package managers are available. It would be good to start with APT or 'A'dvanced 'P'ackaging 'T'ool.
