Hi Saifi, I think you want to have the resultant partition pattern, than actually merging first and the last partition.
I had some success with unusual altering of partitions. Try gParted liveCD. It is much safer and better than using gParted from an installed linux distro. Think about mixing the following aspects of partitioning to get to the desired result: backup, shrink, merge, move, format. Note: We had 10gb partition with 5gb of data. We shrunk the partition to 7gb. gParted liveCD took care of moving files from the remaining 3gb space and made sure the partition is still consistent without any data loss. Cheers, Ragu
