Key Principal Responsibilities
As a Linux kernel expert, provide technical guidance to engineers
working on Linux based embedded system development projects in
broadband networking and set top box domains. Drive the definition of
the next generation Linux based SOC software architecture, fine-tuned
for performance and optimized for memory usage that is scalable and
future-proof. Would be required to define usability aspects of the
system, from SDK and adaptability to customer requirements point of
view.
Educational Requirements:
Any one of the following:
Bachelor or Master of Engineering
Bachelor or Master of Technology
PhD
In any one of the following:
Computer Engineering
Electronics and Communication Engineering
Electronics Engineering
Critical Requirements
Thorough understanding of Linux kernel architecture
specially Linux kernel 2.6 in embedded systems
In depth understanding of services provided by Linux,
including memory management, process management, interrupt handling,
exception handling etc.
Code level understanding of Linux kernel networking stack
including QoS considerations, with hands-on experience on optimizing
data plane flows at the kernel and system level
In depth understanding of requirements for voice, video,
wireless processing through the Linux data plane including QoS
considerations
Understanding of reliability considerations for building
robust Linux based embedded systems
Working knowledge and understanding of GPL considerations,
including the latest trends in the Linux community
Essential Requirements
Should have worked on at least one or more of ARM, IXP or
MIPS processors.
Should have developed Linux networking device drivers, with
experience in optimizing them for performance
Should have wide experience and knowledge of the variety of
configuration interfaces provided by Linux such as procfs, sysfs
Experience in utilizing and optimizing kernel-user
interfaces from applications usage point of view
Should have an understanding of Linux SDK for embedded
systems, specifically for client devices such as DSL modems, set-top
boxes etc.
Preferable
Experience in utilizing processor elements or hardware
accelerators for optimizing data processing in the Linux data plane
Experience in training and grooming other senior engineers
in Linux fundamentals would be an added advantage
