Dear Sridhar, The Short Answer: I am a bit doubtful, whether you can categorize RTOS as subset of EOS, because both of them now-a-days provide similar features, but implementations vary, where in RTOS are more deterministic than EOS.
The Longer Answer: Probably the following may clarify your 1st query. 1. EOS and RTOS both provide multitasking. There are variants of EOS which can only provide context switching and dispatching. They are generally called nano-kernels.A bit better in functionalities are the micro-kernels (not to confuse with the micro-kernel from architecture perspective), who can provide a scheduler and also IPC and also possibly PM. I feel then there are these full blown kernels, whom people address as the Executive Kernels. If you move on the other side there are these RTOS's which generally have better task level responses apart from multitasking, high resolution timers, IPC, some of them even FS and NW modules. Also the scheduling algo preferred in most RTOS's are priority based preemptive scheduling. The Longest Answer: Let me your phone number, we can discuss on the phone..:) Well the second and third query is well answered by Embedded Developers at http://www.linuxdevices.com/articles/AT7065740528.html Regards Mahesh On Mon, Feb 11, 2008, sridhar Reddy <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> said: > Hi Mahesh, > > Thanks for the great session on Embedded systems . > > I have of request for few clarfications > > Can we say RTOS are subset of Embeded OS. > > which embededOS occupies major Share in Mobile industry segement? > > Which embeded os occupies major share in Consumer electroincs? > > > thank you > > Sridhar > > > > On 2/8/08, Mahesh U.Patil <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: >> >> Dear Sridhar >> Apologies for the delayed response and thank you for those additions.
