The function is the same, but you can specify more options with acpi= other than enable/disable:
force -- enable ACPI if default was off off -- disable ACPI if default was on (same as noacpi) noirq -- do not use ACPI for IRQ routing ht -- run only enough ACPI to enable Hyper Threading strict -- Be less tolerant of platforms that are not strictly ACPI specification compliant. source: http://forums13.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?admit=109447627+1235635141637+28353475&threadId=1172060 On Thu, Feb 26, 2009 at 4:08 PM, Saifi Khan <[email protected]>wrote: > Hi all: > > What is the difference between these options > . acpi=off > . noacpi > > Usually we pass these options at the 'boot:' prompt > or the 'kernel' line in case of grub. > > thanks > Saifi. > >
