You can fix this by reviewing each of the users - if you try to do anything with the user it returns a message saying the account is suspended. It's a pain in the neck to deal with though, and a waste of bandwidth to return those people. Suspended accounts shouldn't appear in the list of friends anywhere. It has been a headache for me as well.
