All versions of icsmd5.pas from ICS v5 or earlier are three or more years old, you should really use OverbyteIcsMD5 from the ICS v7 nightly SVN zip, I improved FileMD5 a few weeks ago, but there are no real bug fixes as such. I use MD5 for checking file corruption in several applications, the only times I've had a problem were when buffered files really were being corrupted due to a bug, and when using the multiple file version FileListMD5 (in v6) where you have to hash the files in the same order to get the same result.
